Session 2

Session 2 is all about starting to evaluate enterprises and figure out if they are suitable for the goals and resources you have available. Below are some resources that we have made available to you to help you begin that process.

Your Homework


  • Read the Session 2 Student Handbook.
  • Start thinking about what your start up cost, operational cost, and possible income will be and follow the outline for what to complete below.

For Ag


For Ag Plan Week 4, Module 4:


  • Fill out the following sections under “Operations”
    • List the products that the farm will be producing under the “products and services” tab. Products and Services Help
    • Consider the basic regulatory requirements for your products  you have chosen and list them in the “Licenses, Permits & Regulations” tab. You can find help here with links to discover more.

For Ag Plan Week 5, Module 5:


  • Fill out the following sections under “Executive Summary”
    • When you have the total investment number put that number in the “Capital Request” tab. This will serve as the total need for the project in summary.

  • Fill out the following sections under “Financial Plan”
    • Complete your “Capital Request” tab.
    • This part of the plan should show a breakdown of all the capital items and the cost for each item along with depreciation cost and a total investment. You can attach a spreadsheet to your plan if you like and just add a note in the plan to "see attachment."
    • Capital Budget Tool
  • Fill out the following sections under “Financial Plan”
    • Complete your “Financial Projections” tab.
    • This part of the plan should show a breakdown of all the costs in a budget form. You can attach a spreadsheet to your plan if you like and just add a note in the plan to "see attachment."
    • Please note that a budget will also have price,  yield, and total income but we break that out in Module 6.

For Ag Plan Week 6, Module 6:


  • Fill out the following sections under “Financial Plan”
    • Complete your “Financial Projections” tab by researching price and yield to complete your budget.
    • This part of the plan should show  the yield and price in a budget form. You can attach a spreadsheet to your plan if you like and just add a note in the plan to "see attachment."
