It’s officially spring in Henderson County, so we’re seeing new things every day: new buds on the trees, new beautiful bird calls in the air, and new classes at the Extension office!

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is offering 3 new and completely free classes for local families. Each is ten weeks long, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the evenings, complete with dinner. At each lesson, a nutritious recipe and a creative physical activity will be introduced. Limited space is available, so please register with Betsy J. Tankersley by 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 7th (828-697-4891, bjtanker@ncsu.edu).

  • The first class is focused on navigating pregnancy and motherhood through healthy meals and physical activity and will begin on Monday, April 11th.Families Eating Smart and Moving More 1
  • The second class is focused on improving overall health through nutritious meals and physical activity and will begin on Tuesday, April 12th.Families Eating Smart and Moving More 2
  • The third class is focused on learning to make healthier food and activity choices on the go and will begin on Thursday, April 14th.Families Eating Smart and Moving More 3
