OTL Farms Up and Running

— Written By

Davon Goodwin is a prime example of what it means to work hard and have a big heart. Davon launched OTL Farms this fall as an application of the lessons he learned from NC Farm School but what made him successful is determination and a life changing perspective. Having served a tour of duty as a soldier he understands what it means to make short term sacrifice and he is hoping it is going to pay off. The pay of for Davon is bigger than just his business; he truly desires to see people eat well, eat healthy, and this is a big part of his mission. Davon says, “I don’t use chemicals because that is not how I want to eat and I want to provide the best possible product for my customers.”

OTL Farms started its first day of pick your own grapes on September 1st, and it is worth the trip to taste the different varieties of grapes, grab some sausage, and get a muscadine slushy. The real treat is getting to meet Davon and pick grapes with him. If you want to visit his place in Raeford, NC (just outside of pinehurst) see his facebook page, CLICK HERE. He likes to host field trips, homeschool groups, and his farm is open to the public. If you have never tried picking muscadines it is an experience you need to have and Davon will let you know just what to do. DON’T forget he has sheep and goats to visit any time of the year.
